Students for Trump Co-Founder Charged with Assault

Last week, Ryan Fournier, known for co-founding the political advocacy group Students for Trump, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon in North Carolina.

The incident in question allegedly involved Fournier hitting a woman with a gun. According to the charging documents, Fournier “grabbed her right arm and struck her in the forehead with a firearm.” The gun was identified as a 9 mm SIG Sauer pistol. After his arrest, Fournier was released on a $2,500 bond.

Documents indicate that the 27-year-old waived his right to counsel and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18. The identity of the woman involved has not been disclosed in the charging documents.

Fournier and John Lambert co-founded Students for Trump in 2015 while attending Campbell University in North Carolina. The group’s mission is to promote the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States and to bolster Republican power in Washington. The organization employs campus ambassadors nationwide to host events and mobilize student voters.
As of 2019, Students for Trump claimed to have amassed over 5,000 volunteers across 280 chapters and garnered upwards of 13,000 vote pledges.
